JAMMU: Tobacco Free Youth Campaign 3.0 was launched today by Jammu and Kashmir’s Director of Health Services Jammu, Dr. Abdul Hamid Zargar in the presence of senior functionaries of Health Department and staff members of the Health Services Directorate, office of Chief Medical Office Jammu, State Tuberculosis Office, Veneriology and Leprosy and Divisional Nodal Officer, National Tobacco Control Programme.
A presentation was given by the Nodal Officer explaining the Campaign strategies and targets to be achieved during the campaign. The guests also took the No Tobacco Pledge and committed to spread awareness regarding the ill effects of Tobacco use in their circles.
The programme ended with a signature campaign led by the Director Health Services in presence of Deputy Director Dentistry, Chief Medical Officer Jammu, Joint Director Planning, State Malariologist, Assistant Director HEB, State Venereologist, Medical Officer MMU, Zonal Leprosy Officer & several senior Officers and their support staff.
The objective of the campaign is to reduce tobacco use in the community by creating awareness regarding its harmful effects, sensitizing people about the laws regulating its use, providing avenues for tobacco cessation at the grassroots level and making the villages tobacco free where the majority of our rural population resides.
