NEW DELHI: Indian Naval Ship INS Trikand, a frontline stealth frigate of the Indian Navy, arrived at Salamis Bay, Greece on 13th September 2025 as part of its ongoing deployment to the Mediterranean Sea.
The highlight of this visit is the maiden bilateral maritime exercise between India and Greece, aimed at boosting interoperability, refining tactical maritime skills, and deepening operational coordination between the two navies. This strategic engagement marks a significant milestone in India-Greece naval cooperation.
During the port stay at Salamis Bay, INS Trikand will participate in several naval diplomacy activities. These include high-level interactions with senior Greek military officials, planning discussions for the sea phase of the exercise, cross-deck visits, and cultural exchanges designed to foster strong people-to-people ties.
The activities are part of a broader effort to enhance bilateral and multilateral maritime collaboration, aligning with India’s vision of promoting peace, stability, and partnership in the region. The cultural and professional engagements aim to build mutual understanding and strengthen maritime bonds between the two countries.
Following the completion of the harbor phase, INS Trikand will proceed to the sea phase of the bilateral exercise, where both navies will conduct coordinated maneuvers, tactical drills, and operational training to enhance readiness and trust.
Upon conclusion of the engagement in Greece, INS Trikand will continue its Mediterranean deployment, engaging with regional partners and projecting India’s commitment to maritime cooperation and security.
