Stalin inagurates SIDCO’s new industrial estates

CHENNAI: On Tuesday, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, through video conference, inaugurated the Small Industries Development Corporation (SIDCO) new industrial estate Chief Minister inaugurated projects under the Tamil Nadu Small Industries Development Corporation, MSME Department, including four new industrial estates in Thiruvallur, Tirunelveli, Thiruvarur, and Chengalpattu, a sewage treatment plant at Thirumudivakkam Industrial Estate, Kanchipuram, and a public facility center for the food processing cluster in Tiruchengode, Namakkal.

He also presented appointment orders to 11 individuals selected for the post of Assistant Manager at SIDCO through the Tamil Nadu Public Service.

Tirunelveli District Collector R. Sukumar, Palayamkottai MLA M. Abdul Wahab, and Deputy Mayor of Tirunelveli K.R. Raju lighted the traditional lamp at the site of SIDCO’s new industrial estate at Muththur in Palaymkottai taluk.

This upcoming industrial estate at Muththur will encourage the entrepreneurs, especially the skilled youth, to start their manufacturing units and the local people will benefit from it. It is expected to provide employment to 1,400 people The business community of the southern districts, while welcoming this move, said Mr. Stalin should actively explore the possibilities of reviving the Nanguneri Multi-product Special Economic Zone, which has been in cold storage ever since it was announced in March 2001.

The Tamil Nadu Small Industries Development Corporation (SIDCO) Industrial Estate at Korukkai, which was inaugurated virtually by Chief Minister M. K. Stalin from Chennai on Tuesday, has been established in an area of 15.5 acres.

The land situated in Thiruthuraipoondi taluk in the district has been handed over to SIDCO by the Revenue Department.

The industrial estate, established at a cost of ₹2.15 crore, would have 60 developed industrial plots to be allotted to entrepreneurs. Basic amenities such as roads, drinking water supply and drainages have been at the estate, according to an official release.

Collector V. Mohanachandran, along with V. Selvaraj, MP, Poondi K.Kalaivannan and K. Marimuthu, MLAs, and N.Ilayaraja, Chairman, Tamil Nadu Adi Dravidar Housing and Development Corporation, inspected the industrial estate after the formal opening by the Chief Minister.
