HP to invest Rs. 3000 crore to enhance modern healthcare services

SHIMLA: The Himachal Pradesh government has decided to invest over Rs. 3000 crore to enhance modern healthcare services and develop and expand health infrastructure in the State, a state government press release said.

The ruling Congress government in Himachal Pradesh has been undertaking several reforms in the health sector and equipping medical colleges and hospitals with state-of-the-art machinery so that citizens do not need to travel outside the state for treatment. The investment planned is a part of the rforms proposed in the health sector in the state.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has directed the State Health Department to develop an App for online payments of medical tests in hospitals, promoting digital governance.

The Health Department has been directed to develop an App within one month for convenient and cashless services, in coordination with the Digital Technologies and Governance Department, according to a government press release.

Online payments would significantly reduce waiting time for people by streamlining the payment process and eliminating physical queues at hospitals to pay for tests and will receive quality and seamless healthcare services, the press release said. Additionally, interested individuals will also be able to book online appointments with doctors at various hospitals through this app.
